Mike's Kitchen, tucked just off Lancaster Road in Knott End-on-Sea, fits comfortably into the local cafe scene as a straightforward spot for hearty breakfasts and casual lunches. The setting is unpretentious and welcoming, with both indoor and outdoor seating that easily accommodates locals walking their dogs or cyclists stopping by after a ride along the coast. It’s exactly the kind of place where folks feel at home settling in for a relaxed meal without fuss.

The cafe’s standout feature for many is its well-priced, sizable English breakfast, making it a popular choice for early risers or anyone looking to fuel up properly before a day around Wyre. Customers consistently highlight the quality and generosity of the portions, which punch above what you might expect for the price. Beyond breakfast, the menu leans on comforting classics like roast beef paired with coffee and homemade desserts, which have also been known to satisfy those stopping by for a midday treat.

Service at Mike's Kitchen comes across as genuinely friendly, with staff taking time to chat and offer practical advice—whether that’s about the best local routes for a cyclist or just making sure everyone’s comfortable, including four-legged visitors. The openness to dogs indoors as well as out contributes to a relaxed, inclusive atmosphere that invites lingering over a milkshake or slow coffee.

Locals tend to drop in anytime from morning through early afternoon, especially on weekends or sunny days when the outdoor tables fill up with groups sharing breakfast spreads or sandwiches. The vibe is easygoing, less about polish and more about straightforward, honest food and familiar faces. If you’re passing through or in need of a dependable full English or a well-made coffee, Mike’s Kitchen serves as a practical and friendly stop, pretty well tuned to the rhythms of its coastal village setting.

So I decided today to go a bicycle ride all way to Pilling and then Knotts End, when I found Mike's Kitchen. Naturally I was hungry and made it and had a great chat with Mike. Service was brilliant gave me a helpful advice for my journey home. Now the breakfast I had a large English breakfast £7.50 (yes I know very cheap) the ingredients alone are more expensive put together. I did offer advice back and told him that local to me, your looking at a extra quid and he needs to up the price. Mike's reasons for it being cheap well how can I complain they are very good reasons. Anyways back to the breakfast, I requested no Mushrooms as they are evil. Mike gave me a extra sausage, and for toast he recommended the Sour dough he freshly made because it will settle on my stomach better than normal bread. (Mike if you read this, you were right and I will be making that decision everytime I have breakfast). I paid what I clearly thought it was worth, a pot coffee £2.00 easy, the full English breakfast £9.00. I do recommend you to go as its definitely worth it and Mike is a very happy fella.

My first visit to Mike's Kitchen. I decided to sit outside with the dog, although dogs are allowed inside. I took a seat and after a few minutes Joe came out and introduced himself, he was very friendly and helpful. I ordered the roast beef with a coffee and homemade sticky toffee pudding. All I can say is that my plate was completely empty and the sticky toffee pudding was fab. All for under £15. I will be back, the breakfast looks too good to miss. Thanks to Mike, Joe and all the staff for an enjoyable first visit.

Father's Day (2025) We all enjoyed a delicious breakfast! My husband had a milkshake and said it was amazing. The prices are excellent, and even our older dogs are welcome inside, but we decided to sit outside.

Had vegan breakfast at Mike’s Kitchen today for the first time. It was the tastiest breakfast I've had in a long time. Proper milky coffee too. He let me have some of his fresh homemade sourdough bread, which I've just eaten... the man should be on Bake Off ... it's stunning bread. If you haven't been we absolutely recommend it. Proper down to earth, real tasty food! and lovely people Thank you

The best full English breakfast over Wyre, everywhere else is 8/10, this place is a solid 10/10. And I'm a connoisseur! Support this excellent gaff!

I happened to stop by this place while traveling around the area, and I was very satisfied. The price was not expensive, the food was nice, and the service was friendly. It was nice that it was dog friendly. Even though it was a short time, I felt the warmth of the staff and the customers. It's a great local cafe.

I visited for the first time and was made to feel.so welcome (by staff and all of the customers) that it felt like visiting family. I had chicken and leek pie which was homemade and delicious. Also doggy friendly which I loved as I no longer have a dog of my own. I will definitely be back and will be recommending it to everyone.
